Janelle Roedan - B & W - Those Snowy Days. . .

I took many photographs for this project, but this one really shows a lot about what goes into a B&W shot and fits into this winter theme - snow. For the B&W project, I used my Iphone 4S phone which runs on IOS7. I used the camera that comes with the Iphone for this specific photo, but I also used 'TimerCam' for the self portraits. To edit the photographs I used an application called ProCamera which I recommend to everyone.
I have many different themes throughout my photos. Since this is the first photography class I have ever taken, I am trying to bring out the artistic and creative side of myself. It was tough trying to find things to shoot and angles to use to make the photo look more artistic. When I took this photo I was sitting on the outside steps of my friend's house. I made sure I held my phone horizontal and put a hand over the top of my phone so that the lens wouldn't get covered in snow. I had the phone straight but sort of facing the snow so I could really catch the snow fall. All I had to use for this photograph was the B&W effect on ProCamera.
I tried to shoot things that would look good with a Black & White filter. This specific photo was interesting to shoot because I somehow got a great shot of the thickness of the snow with a very dark background. Once I added the B&W filter it made it pop even more. I feel as though this shot came out very natural.
