Sam Spellman: B&W Recipe "Snowy Run"

pastedGraphic.pdf

I used an IPhone 4s to take my pictures and it runs on the IOS6 version because I refuse to update it to IOS7.  I took all my photos with the standard IPhone camera and then edited them using some apps that I downloaded in the app store.  For this particular photo I used the FX Photo Studio app version 5.1.  It usually cost a few bucks but is free for this month only and I recommend to get it now.
In most of my pictures I wanted the head on shot to get the full view.  This one in particular I liked the symmetry of the trees and how at the end of the road it just goes into a white blur.  This was not in the original photograph obviously but with some tweaking I realized that I really liked how that made the photograph look as a whole.
The app has 4 different black and white options to choose from.  I chose the basic black and white filter and then really turned up the contrast so that the trees were as black as I liked and the white was bright enough, but not too bright where it all blended together.  I chose this photo op in particular because I knew it would look good in black and white because it almost already was like that naturally.  I really thought that this one also captured the peacefulness of the snow and the road.
