Kristi Flesher / B&W Recipe

light to dark || fun to scary || happy to creepy
iPhone5
iOS 7.0.4

All the photos that I shot for this topic were taken on the camera that comes on the iPhone. When using photos solely on this camera I find that the quality of the picture is good but I have trouble with get the lighting that I wish. The majority of the time I keep my flash off because of this so I can then go back and easily edit.

My favorite photo app on the iPhone is called CameraBag2, version2.3.01. What I enjoy most about this app is that it is hi-fi so it retains variations in contrast and color of the original. For the image above I shot regularly through the iPhone camera and then uploaded it to this app and applied the ‘Blackout B&W’ adjustment filter. I then simply lowered the exposure slightly and received the desired look I was going for.

It is interesting comparing the original from the submitted version because obviously the first was full of brightness and many differing colors.  However once I edited, the image changed dramatically in emotion, providing darkness to a fun game played at a birthday celebration with friends.
